Letter: 7th grader says, ‘Pass WC-1’

The original story was posted on RGJ and can be viewed at this link.

In two years, I’ll be in high school. I’ve heard of schools going to double sessions if WC-1 doesn’t pass. That means I’ll wake up at 5:00 everyday to get to school at 6:00. Or, I will go to school from 12:00 to 6:00, skipping after school activities and sports. I want to play baseball, but how can I do that if my school is on double-sessions? I don’t want this to happen because kids will come to school tired and grouchy from waking up early, or they will come to school with too much energy from not being there earlier in the day. I need people to pass WC-1 so I can stay at the school I’m zoned for. I can’t vote, but if I could, I would vote for WC-1 to build new schools and repair schools. Our job is to learn so we can be your future lawyer, scientist, car dealer, or doctor. We can’t be prepared for these jobs if we are educated in an old, run down classrooms.

Vote “YES” on WC-1 for kids like me,

Jake Bemus

7th grader at Billinghurst Middle School
